DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP:  A light to moderate trade took place last week with the 
bulk of business taking place on Thursday and Friday. Northern dressed deals 
showed a full range of $365 to $372, mostly $370, $2 lower than the previous 
week's weighted average basis Nebraska. Southern live transactions had a 
range of $238 to $240, mostly $238, $2 lower than the prior week's weighted 
averages. According to Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Negotiated 
Purchase Summary reports the weekly accumulated weighted averages were 
recorded as: KS $240.00($239.70); NE $370.18($372.11); TX $238.27($239.95); 
IA $371.18 ($372.85); CO was not available due to confidentiality. (the prior 
week's weighted averages are listed in parentheses). Due to the late week 
trade, weekly accumulated weighted averages in the South are likely to be 
somewhat lower when summaries are released later today.

The Friday afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle report lists week-to-date 
trade volume totals as: KS 6,207; NE 22,853; TX 3,094, IA 24,230; CO NA due 
to confidentiality. Friday's slaughter totaled 110,000 head, 18,000 more than 
the prior week, but 3,000 less than a year ago. Saturday's kill was estimated 
at 17,000 head, bringing the weekly total to 573,000 head, 6,000 greater than 
the previous week, but down 52,000 from 2024. The weekly average for boxed 
beef cutouts and boxed beef cuts: choice $372.13(+6.59), select 
$354.47(+4.74), with an average choice/select spread of $17.66(+1.86), and a 
total load count including cuts, trimmings, and grinds of 760(-143), (Changes 
from the prior week are listed in parentheses).

For the week ending October 18, 2025, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the 
U.S. totaled 45,067, 94.88% of the previous week and 96.70% of the 4-week 
average. Last week the following information was not available for the week 
ending October 11, 2025, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the U.S. totaled 
47,497, 100.80% of the previous week and 101.26% of the 4-week average.

DTN MORNING COMMENTS: It looks to be a typically quiet Monday morning with 
both buyers and sellers busy taking inventory and preparing for the week 
ahead. Bids and asking prices have yet to be established, and significant 
trade volume will likely be delayed until well into the second half of the 
week. Beef cutouts are expected to be higher with light box movement.
